The versatile blogger award

versatile blogger award

Now here is something that doesn’t happen to me every day.  Went for a stroll the other day, came back, and this is what I found in my blogger inbox…lol.

I am actually very thrilled to receive this cool recognition because its from a fellow blogger whom I respect tremendously.  All his blogs are well thought out, humorous, and certainly inspirational.  Thank you “Mr. About me” for the nomination.  His blog address is:

About

Now on with the rules and requirements of this recognition:

——————————————————————————————————-

VBA Rules

If you are nominated, you’ve been awarded the Versatile Blogger award.

  •  Thank the person who gave you this award. That’s common courtesy.
  •  Include a link to their blog. That’s also common courtesy — if you can figure out how to do it.
  •  Next, select 15 blogs/bloggers that you’ve recently discovered or follow regularly. ( I would add, pick blogs or bloggers that are excellent!)
  •  Nominate those 15 bloggers for the Versatile Blogger Award — you might include a link to this site.
  •  Finally, tell the person who nominated you 7 things about yourself.

————————————————————————————————————————————

Okay, now it my turn to nominate 15 bloggers!  I am going to select bloggers based on the amount of impact they had on my blog.  If this award is new to you, then congratulations! you certainly earned it.  If you are so good and are familiar with these types of nominations/recognitions, well it is just another confirmation from one of your followers to re-affirm how good you are.  Here they are in no particular order.  <Drum roll please>:

1. Cookiemomma: http://cookiemomma.wordpress.com
One of my most favorite bloggers bar none!! Lots of credit to cookiemomma for the dramatic evolution of my blog site.  Intelligent writer, thoughtful commenter, and she is going to make me a superstar among other moms at next kid’s b’day party.  Wait till I unleash my new learned knowledge on cakes and cookies, to rest of these soccer moms.  Oh and, yes, there is a big difference between a soccer mom and a cookiemomma 🙂
2. Fela2fela: http://fela2fela.wordpress.com
This blogger’s  material is nothing like you’ve ever seen in the blog world.  It’s mostly based on random thoughts and dreams and it just pulls you in.  Many occasions when I read the blog, it stimulates my old memory bank in my head, and brings it out in full force.  You also got to pay attention to all the pictures with the stories because they intertwine so flawlessly.  This particular blog is my favorite story.  The mother’s reply is what adds to the “drama” of the story. http://fela2fela.wordpress.com/2012/02/09/medication/
3. Yibeichen: http://yibeichen.wordpress.com/2012/04/12/stay-at-home-dad/
This blogger may not know this, but Yibei is my first follower and was also my 2000th customer to my site…lol.  Very creative with design and very smart.  This link is my favorite blog from Yibei’s site.  I found myself saying a mouthful on the comment section…lol

4. LifeWorthLiving: http://mylifeworthliving.com
I love underdog story, and what can you say about a gal that was singing “welcome to the jungle” with her daddy when she was small.  She has about one more month to go before being reunited with the love of her life.

5. Mari Sanchez Cayuso: http://marisancayuso.wordpress.com
Definitely a “heavy weight” when it comes to poetry writing.  Some of them are pretty intense and some will just relax you like warm summer breeze.  And all her comments are just as beautiful.

6. DianeO: http://diane-owens.com/
She just completed her 100 straight days of pretty impressive blogging.  They are all intended to be thought provoking and she has a very lively audience with good interactions.  She is a hippie sorta person and she recently wrote about her relationship with her very Republican father, and was just perfect.

7. Ignitemenow: http://ignitemenow.wordpress.com
This blogger has a style of writing that will charge you up every time you read it.  I often say it’s a direct replacement for my morning coffee.

8. Dana: http://serenescribe.wordpress.com
Soooo fun!  You can instantly get to know her really well by reading her blogs.  Fun, loving, daddy’s little girl, humorous, and currently the Queen of one liners 🙂  Visit her “favorite blog” page and you’ll see what she is all about.  Anybody that ever wrote bad response to her is an ass.

9. Stephanie Romero: http://stephaniesromero.blogspot.com/
God only knows it’s difficult to understand and comprehend what can possible be going thought my wife’s head.  This blogger has some very wise advice and stories to help me be a more understanding husband.

10. JustWords: http://kzackuslheureux.wordpress.com/
I didn’t think it’s was possible to find somebody that loves camping more than I do.  Lots of great articles on outdoor related stuff and some bit of controversial stuff, but it’s all good.

11. Diane Henders: http://blog.dianehenders.com
An author, business owner, public speaker, gear head, computer nerd, Harley rider, car enthusiast, etc… are you kidding me? You think this person knows a thing or two about getting things done?  Truly inspirational and probably the next biggest celebrity I’ve known since Willie G. Davidson 🙂

12. Donna on Palawan: http://donnaonpalawan.wordpress.com/
I guess when you live in paradise and eat natural foods; you get the result you see on her webpage.  Can’t thank her enough for nudging me to write a letter to my wife.  As soon as I was done writing it, it just felt right.

13. Shawna: http://rosemarymint.wordpress.com
Wonderful poet and a partner in crime to an awesome blogger that tagged me with all this.  Don’t know how she got left out of the original nomination but certainly deserving of it for sure.  You and your husband are wonderful people and your websites are a great reflection of your personalities.

14. Heart of a Mother’s prayers: http://heartofamothersprayers.wordpress.com/
Another great blog to help me understand my wife better.  I think this blog caused me to give my wife some hugs, that I normally wouldn’t have done 🙂

15. xoEvelynOrtizHasSpoken: http://xoevelynortizhasspoken.wordpress.com
Recently stumbled on this gem of a writer.  Great interaction with followers and great material.  I’m tell you folks, this blogger is going places, I recommend jumping on the bandwagon early 🙂

————————————————————————————————–

7things about me

  1.  I was a stay home dad for about 1.5years and she threw me out.
  2. Best job I ever had: Project engineer for Harley Davidson motorcycles.  How cool is it to work side by side with Willie G. Davidson!
  3. Worst job I ever had: working at a local pet shop at $3.75/hr cleaning reptiles, rats, mice, creepy bugs.   I had to quit because I broke out into hives when I mishandled a giant rat and it got on my arm and started climbing up toward my head.  It was the only time I ever screamed like a little school girl.
  4. All the music I ever need to listen to fits nicely in 2 GB memory card.  Consists of Doo-wop, opera, heavy metal, southern rock, & oldies
  5. Got suspended from high school for almost burning it down, accidently.  It was a stupid science experiment gone wrong with other nerds.
  6. My driveway looks like a used car lot, and my garage looks like a bicycle store.
  7. If I wasn’t married I’d be playing video games and be completely worthless to the society.

Thank you, thank you, thank you! Your words are way too kind, it’s always an honor to be recognized by a fellow blogger (especially one that I respect). I absolutely LOVE your blog and your posts are genuine in emotion. I love that you post actual real life events and that is what appeals to most. Let me know when is the next birthday party. I will mail you some of my famous lemon cookies and you will outshine all of the mothers. Thanks, Christie 🙂

    • April 28, 2012 at 12:38 am

That would be such a riot..lol. I am so tempted to bake some of your world famous bakeries and maybe enter some baking contest in my area..lol. This is just too darn funny, I can’t stand it!!Thank you so much for chiming in, I am having a blast 🙂

  4. April 27, 2012 at 10:18 pm

Thank you, Chris. You really have a gift for writing generous words. Your comments make me want to look up all the bloggers you honored.

    • April 28, 2012 at 12:14 am

Thank you for noticing. I actually did think a lot about what makes these bloggers so special to me, and I meant every word of it 🙂 You should definitely give them a visit, because I know they would love to have a model visitor like you on their pages.

  5. April 27, 2012 at 11:09 pm

Glad you “accepted” the award and are passing it on. In the least shocking news of the day, your ‘7 facts’ cracked me up!

    *Harley engineer? Seriously?!? I’m jealous.
*We must be just about the same age…I had one of those horrible $3.75/hour summer jobs cause of some special govt. program that allows employers to hire summer help for less than min. wage. What was that about?!?
*major props on the southern rock & oldies…not so sure about the rest of it…lol
*I *almost* got suspended for shooting off fireworks at school…pretty sure I would have actually gotten the boot had I burned the place down. 🙂
*I don’t care about the bikes, but tell me more about the cars!
    *which games?

    • April 28, 2012 at 12:36 am

I actually had really good time with this nomination, it made me think about things I normally wouldn’t have. And the best part was introducing some of my favorite bloggers for rest of the world to see. I hope you check them out because they will really appreciate your visit 🙂

Working at Harley was an amazing experience. Your jealousy would be valid if I still worked there..lol. Leaving HD was a heavy price I had to pay in order to make my wife happy.

Yeah, we might be. Tell you what though, I am glad those $3.75/hr is behind me..lol

I love listening to my same music over and over. Southern rock & oldies should be just universally accepted as good music…lol

Hey, I think all brilliant genius wannabes should starts off with almost buring their school down, it should be a pre-requisite!

It just a smorgasbord of vehicles. Jeep XJ, f150 pickup, Murano, Camry, PTcruiser, Jeep Commander, & Volvo S40. I would love to add three more vehicles to the driveway, Jeep JK, Factory 5 GTM, & 1970s Pinzgauer. My wife already threatened to leave me if I ever pull up in a Pinz 😦 She can be so cruel sometimes.

I’m such a gaming junkie but my top 3 would be: Bard’s tale, Diablo, & StreetFighter. I’m definitely rpg kind of guy when it comes to gaming.

      • April 28, 2012 at 12:42 am

thats a pretty awesome collection of cars….no wonder youre offering a car to the lady you mentioned 🙂 i
l dont recognize the pinz….bout to google it now…..l mostly was addicted to football games but did love me some halo and gta

        • April 28, 2012 at 1:02 am

yep, thats why I kinda thought it was meant to be. Still nothing from the seller or the agent.
The pinz is truly a unique truck and I just can’t stop thinking about it. The volvo c303 is another good one I’d be happy with. You wouldn’t believe me if I told you this, but I actually did bid on one on Ebay, only to be outbid by an Ebay ninja! But I’m pretty sure the ninja saved my marriage that day. Ebay and I have long history of getting my wife really upset…lol
I think if I had more free time, I would definitely venture into Madden and halo. I’ve been game sober for many years now, thus more productive.

          • April 28, 2012 at 1:52 am

I have a feeling you and I could open a car lot together and have the time of our lives. We’d probably end up broke though between never wanting to sell a vehicle, and giving loaners out to everybody we felt empathy for. 🙂

I’ve never had the money to really “build a collection” but I have driven my wife crazy with at least a few purchases. A volvo or two (she liked the really boxy one…740?), a f250 that burned veggie oil, motorcycle….and then there was the 67 cougar I won on ebay only to have the seller renege cause he thought I won it for too low a price!?!…I had to quit looking at ebay & craigslist cause we have 4 vehicles plus the bike as is…none of them are “cool” but we got em…lol

I did have some “cool” cars back in the day though….66 impala, 73 mustang with 351 cleveland, 86 mustang, mitsu montero that was amazing in the mud….fun times

well I’m pretty sure I just made you smile and 90% of your readers groan….about to google the dinz now

            • April 28, 2012 at 10:08 am

oh man, aren’t cars just great? One of these days, I’m just going to blog about cars for the whole week. Your veggie burning f250 definitely sounds pretty cool, but so is 66impla and 73 mustang!
If I “accidently” win the Pinz on Ebay, you will be the first to know..lol
Does your wife get nervous too, when she catches you surfing on Ebay? lol

              • April 28, 2012 at 3:03 pm

lol…yes! Though I haven’t done it in a very long time….I remember one night when she saw ebay opened up on the screen & just turned & walked away without saying a word….which of course said more than anything else would have…lol

  6. April 28, 2012 at 1:48 am

Thank you so much! This is my first award so I’m pretty excited. And just so you know you are one of the blogs I keep up with on a regular basis. I love your stories and you make me laugh so that’s a plus in your favor.

    • April 28, 2012 at 10:30 am

Well, thank you for that lovely comment, and you know I go through your blog with a fine tooth comb 🙂

  7. April 28, 2012 at 10:49 am

Congrats on your award – that’s so cool that you worked with H-D! And thanks for passing the VBA on to me, and for all your kind words.

Only one minor inaccuracy – unfortunately, I’m only a wannabe Harley rider. Right now, the only ride I’ve got is an ’85 Honda VF1100 Magna. I’ve never really liked it – its centre of gravity is too high and it just doesn’t feel balanced, so if all goes well I’ll be getting another bike this summer.

But, sadly, unless H-D is giving away bikes as a charitable donation to starving artists, a Harley isn’t in the budget. If my books hit the bestsellers list, I’ll buy a Harley. 🙂

Thanks again for thinking of me, and for sharing your list of bloggers – I’m looking forward to checking them all out!

    • April 28, 2012 at 11:11 am

Thanks for that little correction, but that doesn’t change your celebrity status with me 🙂 Thank you for all the wonderful conversation and I’m sure you’ll eventually sell enough books to get a Harley 🙂 If only Amazon and the publisher didn’t take so much of the profit from a book sale, you would probably have one by now…lol

I find it interesting that they are all women. not getting enough attention from your woman, Chris?

    • April 28, 2012 at 5:45 pm

Hmm, direct question deserves direct answer; I have four points to make:
Well, my first thought, based on my experience playing online games is, you can NEVER assume the gender of the person on the other computer. Heck, I may not even be a guy…lol.
Second, Mrs.9911 and I are doing great. We went for our usual 30mile bike ride this morning w/ our matching communication headset, and now we are going over various design proposals for our business. Oh, kids are fine too, incase you were wondering.
Third, I am relatively a new blogger. I didn’t really start blogging until about 2 months ago. I simply don’t have big pool of followers/commenters to pick from. But that’s okay because I love these great folks, and I hope they stick around as long as I’m still breathing. In other words, they are more than just a gender, they are fantastic bloggers! This being my first award I am going to nominate folks that have participated on MY blog, first. I do have some folks that hit the ‘like’ button occasionally, and I have some commenters that use foul language and offensive language that end up being censored. Assuming these types of visitors are “male”, I can’t think of a single reason to nominate them over someone who leaves me genuine and friendly comments. Seems like common sense.
Fourth, I also think female audience is probably going to care more about family related issues than men.

I bet you didn’t think I would publish your comment 🙂 I pride myself in providing excellent customer service, regardless of gender/race/religion/whatever else! Thanks for stopping by ma’am 🙂

  9. April 28, 2012 at 4:43 pm

Chris, I really don’t know what to say, though you know I’ll find some words :D…..Thank you so much, you’ve been such an accepting, kind and generous supporter of my posts. Blogging is new to me and you’ve been such a help and sounding board. Thank you for the award and for your friendship!!

    • April 28, 2012 at 5:07 pm

no, thank you for your kind and generous support of my blogs!

  10. April 28, 2012 at 5:47 pm

    New View From Here :

lol…yes! Though I haven’t done it in a very long time….I remember one night when she saw ebay opened up on the screen & just turned & walked away without saying a word….which of course said more than anything else would have…lol

Oh man, I know that feeling all too well, my Ebay brother! lol

  11. April 29, 2012 at 11:02 pm

    congratulations 🙂

  12. April 30, 2012 at 3:02 pm

Wow Chris, congratulations! That’s so cool! Also, I am glad to have been nominated by a fellow blogger who I myself respect greatly. 🙂

    • April 30, 2012 at 3:24 pm

You were my second follower and I can’t thank you enough for sticking around all this time 🙂
Your blog definitely deserve much recognition for its brilliance. As “macabre” as few of them may be, you got so many beautiful ones; especially when you start getting into your mum, granddad, granny, and especially your brother 🙂 But most importantly, they are ALL creative and original. I can tell you spent a lot time putting it all together.
      Thanks for stopping by!
